The Harbor Area (CA) Chapter of the Links, Inc., Arts Facet

Is looking for Spoken Word Artists to Participate in its 2015 Spoken Word Event.  The Arts is a proven tool for increasing academic performance and is considered a critical component to a well-rounded education.  The goal of the event is to develop an awareness and appreciation of art.  The "spoken word" is POWERFUL, INSPIRATIONAL, MOTIVATIONAL, AND LIFE CHANGING.  This year's event speaks to our current generation of young people through its theme:

REALITY IN A NOW GENERATION:  WHAT WOULD PRESIDENT OBAMA SAY?

HOW TO AUDITION

Online audition registration begins November 24, 2014 and ends midnight, December 19, 2014.  

Please follow the instructions below:

 (1)  Read the instructions for "The Spoken Word Event".

 (2) Go to the 2nd link under the Special Events tab to complete "The Spoken Word Event" submission form. The submission form must be completed in its entirety.

(3)  You must submit a video recording of your original spoken word piece. You can submit your video by (1) emailing a link to your downloadable video submission to hacspokenwordevent@gmail.com OR (2) you can submit your video as an attachment to hacspokenwordevent@gmail.com.

THE SPOKEN WORD EVENT RULES

This event is open to current Harbor Area (CA) Chapter facets and their student participants.

Your original piece:

  • Must coincide with the theme:

“REALITY  IN A NOW GENERATION:  WHAT WOULD PRESIDENT OBAMA SAY?”

(Food for thought: social media, education and literacy,  universal healthcare, domestic violence, human trafficking, bullying, etc.)

  • Should promote a positive life prospective (outlook)
  • May include your own personal experience
  • Must be 2  to 5 minutes.
  • Suitable and appropriate language (NO PROFANITY!)
